UNIFORM WARES
STORY SO FAR
Founded in 2009 by Patrick Bek and Oliver Fowles, two product designers who met studying at Birmingham. Before launching the watch brand they showed accordion-style folding furniture at Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2006. Uniform Wares set up in east London (now headquartered in a Shoreditch studio) with a remit of making restrained, design-led wristwatches drawing on the visual language of mid-century British factory wall clocks (think Smiths Sectric and Gent of Leicester). The 100 Series sits in the permanent design collection of SFMOMA. The brand has expanded into mechanical and quartz models including the M-, C- and N-Series, all sharing the same disciplined, minimal aesthetic.
