STORY SO FAR
Schplendid is a London sofa brand launched in 2025 by Rohan Blacker, who co-founded sofa.com in 2005 and set up Pooky lighting in 2014, together with co-founder and managing director George Williams. Blacker says he started it because most sofas don’t last and are filled with man-made foams and fibres that end up in landfill.
The range is deliberately small, with around nine designs including Albion, Wee Bonnie, Big Bonnie, Vesper, Edie, Scoon, Margot, Lenny and Lionel. They’re sold direct with no discounts. The brand avoids polyester and fire-retardant chemical sprays, using solid beech frames, hand-tied springs, feather-and-down cushions, wool, coconut fibre and 100% natural Italian fabrics. It has a showroom at Riverside Quarter in Wandsworth, London.

Not UK made. In a September 2026 reply to a customer review on Trustpilot, Schplendid said its sofas are built in Poland by upholsterers and makers it has worked with for years. Its website calls the sofas handmade but doesn’t say where they’re made.
The covering fabrics are Italian, and the mohair is woven into cloth in Belgium.
