G PLAN
STORY SO FAR
Roots go back to 1898, when Ebenezer Gomme founded his furniture company in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire — historic heart of British chair-making. The G Plan name was launched in 1953 by Donald Gomme as a range of modern, mix-and-match modular furniture for the whole home, sold piece-by-piece. The 'G Plan' branding (coined by ad agency JWT — short for the Gomme Plan) helped pioneer mid-century lifestyle marketing in Britain, with a flagship gallery in Vogue House, Hanover Square. The 1962 Danish range, designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen, became a classic. Since 2005 G Plan has been part of Sofa Brands International. Today the brand focuses on upholstery — sofas and armchairs handcrafted to order in the UK.
