THE YORKSHIRE SOAP COMPANY
STORY SO FAR
Founded in 2004 by Warren Booth, from Copmanthorpe near York, and former chef Marcus Doyle, from Ripponden near Halifax, who started making and selling soap from a small gift shop in Hebden Bridge with just £500. Unable to afford proper soap moulds, Doyle used what he had to hand — cake tins and baking cases — to create the brand’s signature soap ‘cupcakes’, drawing on his training as a chef. The business grew from that Hebden Bridge shop into a wider retail operation, and its novelty soap cakes have attracted enough attention that the then-Prince Charles paid the company a visit.
