MANTIS
STORY SO FAR
Founded in London in 2000, Mantis is an independent racket sports brand built around the idea that "progress is the true essence of sport" — aimed at dedicated amateurs, club coaches and obsessive hobbyists rather than the touring professional. The brand markets itself on "British engineering" and a belief that quality shouldn't be reserved for the mainstream, championing mentorship, inclusivity and craftsmanship over marketing hype. In 2025 Mantis was relaunched under new ownership, with the brand's original founder remaining involved, bringing a redesigned look to its established range while keeping the same playability and pricing the brand has offered throughout its history. The current line-up covers tennis and padel racquets, tennis and padel balls, sport-inspired apparel, and the brand's first-ever racket backpack.
DESIGNED BY
In-house Mantis team; the brand states its products are "Developed in the UK", with design also carried out in New York. No individual founder or design lead is named publicly following the 2025 relaunch, though the site confirms the brand's original founder remains on board. UK-based: Yes (development).
MADE BY
Per the brand's own "Our products" page: "Developed in the UK. Designed in New York. Made in the same factories of Taiwan, Thailand and China who've worked with the biggest brands for over 50 years." There is no UK manufacturing of finished goods, and no SKU-level percentage breakdown is published — Mantis's British content is limited to brand development and part of the design process.
