JAGUAR
STORY SO FAR
Founded by William Lyons and William Walmsley in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company in Blackpool, moving to Coventry in 1928. Renamed SS Cars in 1933 and Jaguar Cars in 1945 — the SS initials were dropped after the war. Defined British luxury and sporting motoring through the XK120, the C-Type and D-Type Le Mans winners, the E-Type (1961) and the XJ saloon. Acquired by Ford in 1989, then sold with Land Rover to India's Tata Motors in 2008, forming Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). In late 2024 the brand was relaunched under creative director Gerry McGovern as an electric-only ultra-luxury house, unveiling the Type 00 concept in Miami; the first production model — a four-door electric GT — is to be revealed in late 2025 and built in the UK on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA).
