STORY SO FAR

Founded in 1958 by the four Walklett brothers — Bob (managing director), Douglas (mechanical and electrical engineering), Ivor (chief designer) and Trevers (styling) — in Woodbridge, Suffolk. The company built its first prototype, the G1, in 1957 from a pre-war Wolseley Hornet base, then went into series production with around 100 G2s between 1958 and 1960. The G4 (1961) and the mid-engine G12 (1966) became Ginetta's defining club racing cars. After several ownership changes Ginetta was acquired in 2005 by former racing driver Lawrence Tomlinson, who relocated the company to a new 75,000 sq ft factory in Garforth, near Leeds, in mid-2007. Today Ginetta hand-builds road and race cars in West Yorkshire — including the G40, G55, G56 and the flagship Akula / G60 — and runs its own Ginetta Junior, GT Academy and GT4 Supercup race series.
