AJOTO
STORY SO FAR
Founded in 2011 in Manchester by founder and creative director Chris Holden. The name 'AJOTO' is short for 'A Journey To'. The brand made its name with The Pen — a precision-engineered rollerball machined from solid aluminium, brass or stainless steel, with an original four-piece retracting nib mechanism and a slender teardrop taper to balance the weight in the hand. Ajoto has since extended into refillable fountain pens, hand-stitched leather pen cases, refills, notebooks, and small everyday-carry objects, all built around the same materials-first, product-design-led approach. The brand is positioned as British craft applied to writing instruments, using machinery and tolerances normally seen in aerospace and motorsport manufacturing.
DESIGNED BY
Designed and developed in Ajoto's UK workshop in Manchester, England, led by founder Chris Holden. UK-based: Yes.
MADE BY
Per the brand: every Ajoto pen, notebook and accessory is designed and developed in their UK workshop, then manufactured by carefully selected specialists across Britain and Europe — using precision machining typically employed in aerospace and F1 supply chains. Retailers consistently describe the pens as 'handcrafted in Manchester'. The brand does not publish a parts-by-country breakdown, but the public description is UK-led with European specialist support.
